Tell me straight, Doc...
Dec. 21st, 2007 04:43 pmHere's a gory story from my medically minded sister.
A few days ago, a car crash victim came in. The initial examination showed that patient had a strong pulse, despite an injury which had severely damaged the neck. After a few moments thought, it was decided that the patient should undergo an MPI scan in an attempt to determine whether there were any signs of higher brain activity. Unfortunately, while the patient was being prepared for the scan, the head completely detached from the body removing any doubts over the patient's viability and, because the heart remained beating right up to the last, there was rather a lot of arterial spray.
Yikes! Sounds like something out of a horror movie. But a thousand times worse for being real.
