Having passed my train journey giggling at a character in a novel whose constant obsession is her flat's lack of heating. Then, when I got home, I realised that I'd switched off my heating before going away and as a consequence, conditions are positively arctic. And because the heating is electric, it's going to take a couple of days before things warm up by which time the cold snap will, inevitably, be over...
