I wonder if there is a correlation between the rise in insomnia and the fact that every other shop in every city in the western world is now a Starbucks or Neo-Starbucks peddling caffeine to the faithful. I suspect so. In my mind, the coffee industry with its perky pick-me-ups and big pharma with its slew of soporifics are the yin and yang of the modern world — one wakes you up, the other winds you down, and unless the two are in perfect balance, suffering results.
