sawyl | High Table, Feersum Honesty

I'm really rather enjoying Mark Tavener's High Table, Lower Orders, currently being repeated on BBC7. Geofrey Palmer is quite supurb as the supremely arch and machivellian historian Gilbert, but I was particularly taken with Patricia the philosophy tutor, as played by Rebecca Front, and her generally irreverent attitude to her subject. Here she is, attempting to reassure one of her students about forthcoming exams:

It's not the end of the world. It's only philosophy. Philosophy is a terrible load of old cobblers. I mean, take Kant — the wazzock! — why didn't he stop warbling about the moral imperitive and get a life!?!

Top marks for honesty. Everyone who's ever read — or attempted to read — Kant must have called him a wazzock or worse at some point in their struggle...
