May. 9th, 2008 08:14 pmA piece about bookmarks on Guardian Books has reminded me of survey of librarians, conducted some years ago, asking about the most unusual things they'd found used as bookmarks. These included rashers of bacon and a prophylactics. While the former was completely horrifying, the latter fascinated me for quite some time — for, how exactly, could one use a condom as a bookmark? But my illusions were shattered when someone pointed out to me that it was probably an unused and sealed preventive, rather than one that had seen some form action...
