I recommend against the wearing of cheap plastic flip-flops on rainy days, for they provide little to no traction on flat, wet surfaces. In particular, I've noticed that they provide especially poor grip on the slate tiles that lead up to the main entrance at work. I now live in dread and fear — although not quite enough fear and dread to sacrifice my current favourite choice of footwear — of slipping over on the tiles and being forced to fill in endless health and safety forms to ensure that no one else falls victim to the same industrial accident.
