Meeting and not meeting
Dec. 18th, 2008 09:55 pmOff to London to visit
drspleen, where our meet-up was only slightly hampered by our decision to meet by WH Smiths — I foolishly asked pater to recommend a good meeting place at Euston and he suggested Smuggins, somehow overlooking the fact that there are actually two branches on the concourse — requiring us to act like Jason Bourne and Simon Ross, talking to each other on the phone while trying to navigate through a crowded station.
With our locational problems solved, we took an initial wander round Camden where, haunted by ghosts of Cayce Pollard, and had lunch in a pub that served extremely dodgy coffee. We then sauntered round the West End, carrying out a precisely targeted shopping spree in Forbidden Planet — yay, swag! — before we wandered around the South Bank and stopping at Tate Modern where we skipped the Rothko exhibition in favour of tea in the cafe.
