Thanks to the cold weather, my lip has ulcerated. Now I look as though I've been slapped or perhaps, more charitably, as though I'm pouting like the sulky Unix God I truly am. Or maybe I look like I've been slapped for being an overly pouty geek.

Whatever. The upshot is that I look absurd, I can't seem to eat or drink with any dignity — plus ça change — and that I'm desperately hoping that the swelling goes down overnight.
