Trains and a late Christmas present

sawylI'm extremely grateful I took the trouble to book a seat on the train from New Street to Exeter; the service was completely crammed, packed full of sailors bound for Plymouth, marines bound for Lympston, and students heading back to their universities.
Arriving home, I discovered a nice late Christmas present waiting for me: among my unopened post was a letter from my university telling me that my MA thesis had passed. And not just passed, but passed with merit! Needless to say, I am extremely pleased and more than a little relieved.
