Midlands Revisited

Return to the ancient baronial manor this afternoon for the Mater Familias' birthday. Train journey wasn't too bad, freaky passenger count: Moderate, becoming good later. When I arrived, my parents weren't as stressed as I thought they'd be and the weather was beautifully sunny and not at all like rainy Exeter. To top it off, we're just about to go to ever excellent Rupali for dinner.

Looks like my apprehension was for all for naught...

So the further you go from Devon / South West the lower the number of freaky passengers you encounter...
But I feel this is incomplete as the further north you go the increased chance of encountering twats.

It looks like the Midlands is the optimal location for a balance between freaks and twats. Or you could just come to the South East / East Anglian where we are all good looking posh toffs.

On the section from Bristol to Brum, I was sitting across from this really intense looking guy who had loads of cycling gear, a strung out speed freak mien and an attitude of general weirdness. I thought to myself, I bet when he gets off he'll have a folding bike and sure enough, at Cheltenham Spa, I discovered I was right...
