Time for a grand reorganisation?
Mar. 20th, 2010 07:44 pmFor all that I like iTunes, it is really utterly appalling at organising classical stuff. Its simple-minded album-artist-track mentality tends to result in a horrible muddle of tracks names and makes it hard to find particular works. None of this is helped by horribly inconsistent artist naming conventions or the hotchpotch of languages — I've got at least one opera recording where the language switches from English to German and back across the set of discs.
I think there is nothing for it but to re-import most things from scratch, updating the meta-data as I do so to make sure that it is, if not correct, at least internally self consistent. I've found a couple of good suggestions as to how to organise things. Now all I need to do is pick one and settle to my task. I think I'm going to be busy for quite some time...
