Surprised by Stanford in A

Listening to the repeat of Wednesday's evensong for St Patrick's Day from Christ Church Cathedral in Dublin, I was rather taken with Stanford's Canticles in A:

Both setting are extremely charming and then, right at the end, Stanford splits the choir and ends with an expectedly contrapunctal gloria. Wonderful.
