How did I get here?

An extremely rare lunchtime visit to the pub to celebrate the success of our recent work to upgrade AIX to a new technology level. Towards the end of the session, we had a brief discussion about whether anyone wanted a third round of drinks or not. Only one person was in keen and someone commented that it was a good thing that they weren't driving. At which they assented that it was, and then, after a few seconds pause, they caught themselves when they realised that they did indeed have to drive home. They then consulted their watch and attempted to perform some mental arithmatic based on the number of units of alcohol consumed and the number of hours until they had to drive — always a bad sign in my book — but by the time they'd concluded that they could manage another drink, the momentum had been lost and we all headed back to the office. No bad thing, in my view, but I bet if they'd an iPhone and the right app — because there has got to be an app for calculating this sort of thing — they'd have managed to keep the rest of us down there for another half hour or so.
