Chase that opens where most CM episodes finish, trading on the audience's knowledge of the BAU's SOP. Prentiss with the exposition in the cop car. Em catches the Fuller quote — doesn't The Fox open with Gideon quoting Fuller? — and tempts fate by calling Schrader boring. Ouch, that crash has got to hurt. And Tacitus for the opening quote. "We never figured out why..." because it's always about the why. Concussed Prentiss rules. Schrader was a robber and a model prisoner, but now suddenly he's a murderer — again with the why. Wheelchair Prentiss also rules.

48 Laws of Power? I'm guessing the prison library didn't run to Machiavelli. Otey's wife is seriously distraught. "There's no very of me surviving this" The partner is smart but Schrader has him over a barrel. Nice cognitive interview giving a new perspective on the crash and Em spots the mismatch between words and actions. The shot of Morgan, Prentiss and Rossi drinking coffee and discussing the leverage problem while Hotch thinks in the background is a thing of beauty. I like the partner: in a bind but still trying to do the right thing.

Groupthink cracks the case. Suddenly Schrader is dead and no-one knows where Muller's family are. "See you later Mrs Muller" "If you're lucky!" She so shouldn't have said that. Reid focuses on the geography. "I think she's some junkie..." That's the second time Stacy Ryan has been written off — come on CM, you're normally better than that. And now Stacy's murder makes sense. OK, who gave Muller a vest and gun? I love that final sequence in the flophouse; each of the shots is a perfect little tableau. Washington Irvine quote for the close and a nice final character moment between Hotch and Morgan, with Morgan totally getting what Hotch and Jack are going through.
