"Are you sure the victim is dead sir?" "He will be in a second..." Way to kill yourself. I like the way the staties' attitudes shift from self-defence to horrified disbelief. "There goes my non-refundable sin-to-win weekend in Atlantic City..." Well that throws my conception of Prentiss for a loop. Getting yourself tattooed with portraits of the people you've murdered? Not a good sign. Rossi opens a William Dobell quote on the nature of art. I like the CoTW; his speed talking, jitters and attention to details. Reid draws the obvious Bradbury reference and Rossi is completely indifferent. Derek and Em rope Reid into reading the journals. Why, after a decade, has the UNSUB suddenly decided to hand everything over to the FBI? He's trying to hide someone. Juliet is terribly gamine. The house is nice. Disturbingly so.

CoTW's man-of-action frustration as the BAUers kick around profile ideas is great. Garcia calls Rossi a fine fury friend and also shows a detailed knowledge of epidermal artistry. Rossi is obviously baffled. Hotch picks on CoTW's slip and he spills: the case has got to him, penetrated his emotional armour. It's a beautiful scene. The guy in tattoo parlour is way too interested in the crime, but he picks up on the prison tat and follows up on the Bradbury ref. Oh, Becky, don't tell the scary chick the painful truth. "Emily, don't get ahead of my dramatic telling..." Garcia channels Poirot. CoTW finally has proof he was on the right track. The ME is obviously a non-speaking role. Reid cracks the case: the UNSUB has a UV tat of a fetus. Third graphic birthing scene of series 5 and poor Beck is left holding the baby.

The lighting of the raid scene is a thing of beauty and, as always, Morgan takes charge of the baby. The final moments with the CoTW, slightly awkward with Rebecca, downplaying Hotch's complimentary comments about his diligence and decency, are really wonderful. I think John Barton is the best cop of the week we've seen for many a year. Emily is a serious poker player; good enough to take Reid to the cleaners. They have booze on the jet now? Poor JJ doesn't seem to have had much to do of late except be professionally maternal. Here she muses on nature-vs-nurture with Rossi and Hotch, before Hotch rounds things out with a closing quote Gandhi.
