In praise of eyesight

My optician seems to have achieved the impossible: he's managed to give me the best sight I've had for about twenty years. He achieved this trick by noticing that my customary languid, eyes half shut expression was causing the left contact to drift into the wrong position, so he slapped an extra amount of rotation on the cylindrical correction and despite my initial skepticism, it's made a massive difference to everything.
