Today's word of the day is echt, which apparently means genuine or authentic. Kudos to Pater and his knowledge of Yiddish for pointing me towards the correct definition.

Interesting... The same word is used in this meaning in both Dutch and German... but apparently that did not help you much at crosswords...
Good old Adolf must turn in his grave with anger finding out that he failed to get all Jewish words out of the German language,
