sawyl | Caught in the pit

I seem to be having one of those days where every difficulty fixed merely seems to reveal, after a three hour delay while everything rebuilds, yet another problem — a bit like being caught in an incident pit. My take home lessons from the recent madness are:

don't try and do things in a hurry because it won't save time in the long term
always, always take the time to come up with a plan.
if you follow a plan and the plan works, you can't tell whether the plan was unnecessary unless you've got a control group. And perhaps not even then.
nullis in verba. Check, check and triple check the prep work. Especially if you haven't done it yourself. The only think worse than catching your own screw-up once you've committed yourself is catching someone else's screw-up once you've committed yourself.
