A random act of birthdayness

With the machine down for the day, we were all at a bit of a loose end. Thus when Dr S and I discovered that it was PG's birthday — and that he needed cheering up! — we set out on a mission to buy a birthday card and get it signed by as many of his colleagues as we could find. The Vendor people treated the whole thing perfectly normally, but my immediate colleagues were a bit thrown when I passed the card around — I suspect they were unsettled by my inexplicable departure from my normally detached and cynical office persona.

Happily the card seemed to do its job and the Birthday Boy definitely looked cheerier after its delivery than he was before, making it time and credibility well spent...
