An bit of an off day

After making a pretty good start to things, tracking down a particularly perplexing problem, my inspiration seemed to drain away and I spent most of the rest of the day noodling around with things that didn't really seem to go anywhere. I went for a lacklustre swim — for once I didn't resent the pool for closing at six for an aquarobics class — and rounded the day off by failing to make any significant progress with the cryptic crossword.

ETA: Crossword finally cracked on Saturday morning. I have no idea why I found it such a struggle the first time round.
