A long, long day
Sep. 20th, 2012 08:14 pmAnother very long day — I was in the office at 7am and didn't leave until 7:45pm — after the engineering work to shift one of the systems to the UPS overran. Fortunately, our work all went very smoothly and it only took us two and a half hours to get the machine up and running from a cold start — which sounds terrible, but it's far better than previous machines which wouldn't even power on without some form of engineering intervention.
But it's not all long days and badness and stress: I was lucky enough to get some unexpected compensation for something that happened a couple of months ago and for which I wasn't expecting anything. Now all I need to do is decide how to spend it. Should I use it to offset the costs of a new Kindle? Or should I use it to buy some new plates and a new set of cutlery — I've started to run seriously low and I think it might be time to accept that I'm grown up enough to require proper crockery. Or should I spent it on a load of new books & music? Hmm...
