For some reason, possibly on-going problems with my credit card account, I haven't yet been able to order a new Kindle and I'm beginning to get desperate for things to read. I'm even starting to give serious thought to reading (or at least starting) David Foster Wallace's Infinite Jest — a book so huge I'm not even sure it counts as portable.

Kindle?
I use a Bookeen, no big problems so far.
Found that it uses embeded Linux. Found the source of the thing, changed the suspend screen to a nice photo of my daugther and more importantly added some Korean fonts so that Korean books are supported. Nice thing of the Bookeen is the support of the Epub format.
