Chanced my arm and caught an early train, in the hope of avoiding the worst of the half-term crowd. Happily, I managed to hit on the unreserved carriage and had a surprisingly tolerable journey. Arriving in time for a late lunch, I spent the first half of my afternoon extracting Playmobil figures from small niches, including the bass ports in the drawing room loudspeakers.
