The spinning Earth

Downloaded the OS X version of Google Earth today, but so far, no dice: instead of starting up, it just bounces the icon up and down in the dock and hogs the CPU until it's killed. I suspect the problem might be down to my DNS and proxy settings, so maybe I'll fiddle with them and see if anything improves.
