Solo bouldering and climbing

Pleasant evening of climbing and bouldering despite the sad lack of company. I spent the first half of my session trying out some of the new bouldering problems and, if I only completed a handful of them, I had a lot of fun trying. Sadly I didn't quite manage to finish my favourite problem, peeling off two moves from the end, but it made me realise just how much better my balance has become, how my fingers & my crimping technique have improved the point where something that would have felt like an impossibly bad hold a few months ago now feels so solid that I didn't even think before trusting my weight to it.
After wearing myself out on the bouldering, I switched to a mix of routes and traverses for the last part of the evening. This was largely uneventful, although I finally managed to crack a 5+/6a route that I should have been able to do but which has for reason remained elusive — it only has one really tough move two-thirds of the way up — which I finally solved with a unpleasantly large and horribly scrappy backstep.
On the plus side I've got some more sociable climbing lined up for next week and I finally got around to talking to G about doing a lead course — the upshot of which is that we can arrange something whenever he's got a spare slot!
