sawylFor not terribly good reason I've been reading Henry IV and, wanting more dramatic versions, watching my way through Richard Eyre's The Hollow Crown versions.
Very much Shakespeare through the filter of Game of Thrones, they're really rather good: beautifully realised sets, careful editing, and clever intercutting of some of the exposition. The cast are good but, as might be expected given his reputation as one of the finest actors of his generation, Simon Russell Beale is quite outstanding as Falstaff, bringing out the depths and pathos of a role that goes far beyond simple buffoonery.
