A haughty spirit before a fall...
May. 29th, 2014 08:09 pmNot much to say about today's climbing. It was one of those evenings where I try to fit as many routes as I possibly can before my arms die while fitting in a few technique drills — today's were mainly focused on reverse flagging.
Early on, when the place was pretty empty, one of the staff came over and asked to help undo a stuck screwgate she was using with a group of kids. As always happens when I'm called upon to display machismo, I was no use whatsoever. After I'd admitted defeat, she gave it a few solid thumps with another bit of kit and the thing loosened itself up enough to open, leaving me free to wander off, my masculine pride — such as I have any — in tatters...
