Leading something difficult...

A busy day at work, sorting things out, finishing up, and providing moral if not technical assistance with today's power-off and restart. I left at around half-six, a good few hours after the supply came back, when everything looked rosy and the work looked like it was all over bar the waiting — although I subsequently discovered it took another good few hours to get everything back and stable. I went down to the quay and, because the bouldering rooms were closed for resetting, settled in for an evening of soloing routes.
Towards the end I bumped into L&K who very generously offered me a chance to do something a bit more interesting. I took them up on their invitation and led a few things, including a hard 6c that I didn't think I'd get very far with. Rather to my surprise I made it most of the way up despite a couple of slips and the despite the frankly terrifying difficulty — largely because the holds were all pinches & pockets and because I was, on occasion, slightly reluctant to commit to the next clip. I was really pleased with my progress, despite not flashing the route, and it make me realise, not for the first time, that I really need to push myself to do harder lead if I hope to improve.
