The winner of this year's Carbuncle Cup is truly astonishing: a huge modern building bizarrely set a metre behind a small 19th century facade; and because floors of the old and the new don't match up, the rooms at the front look out on a blank wall. It's not hard to see why the council refused it planning permission...

Via J, a chance to compare and contrast the old and new versions of the dining room at Erskine Hill, which, I'm assured, can be yours — along with the rest of the house — for a cool 3.25 million.
