Somehow, after hearing Edward Bairstow's anthem Let all mortal flesh keep silence on the radio this morning, I've had Ralph Vaughan Williams' Lord, thou has been our refuge stuck in my head.

Todays earworm, which I caught a section of as part of the closing credits to something on 4extra, is the Sicilienne from Gabriel Fauré's Pelléas et Mélisande:

Via one of my colleagues, whose text alert sound just happened to be the little rising motif that opens Holst's second suite for military band, I've had the first movement of the stuck in my head. Here then, in an attempt ot exorcise my earworm, is an excellent version form the NHK Symphony Orchestra featuring a particularly fine euphonium solo:
