Three vampiric themes
Aug. 14th, 2007 06:06 pmI based the first theme on the cover of issue one of Marvel's version of Guilty Pleasures. I'm reasonably happy with it, but it's not quite right. I'm not convinced that the icon background is right — the clip doesn't contrast enough with the background — and I don't think that menu graphic, a lightened section of the main background, really works.
The second theme is based on a the cover of issue two of Dark Horse's Ugly Little Monsters.
The third is based on issue three of Ugly Little Monsters. Again, I'm not convinced that the theme is quite right — the window titlebars don't blend with the rest of the theme terribly well — but it's ok for a first cut.
Now all I need is an excuse to dearchive more data and I can perfect them...
Dogs, computers and Precious Dragon
Apr. 12th, 2007 09:14 pmForsaking the dubious pleasures of rabid dogs or totemic turings, I spun a new desktop theme from Jon Foster's wonderful new cover for Precious Dragon. Here's a brief glimpse:
I just love the way the hands are reaching up from behind the curtain — something I didn't notice until after I'd made it my backdrop. Talk about supremely cool.
Planetary theme
Apr. 19th, 2006 05:18 pmSadly, the central image is copyrighted so I can't distribute it — not only is mooching bad, but it's doubly bad when you're mooching off people as talented as Warren, John and Laura — but that's not going to stop me gloating over the beauty of it...
